The track that we were now on was created to transport materials to create the western dams and then was largely submerged when the Loch was filled.  Glen Kingie itself can be a difficult barrier when approaching Gairich from the south with the River Kingie being an impossible obstacle when it is in spate and needing wading at other times because of the absence of bridges. very … Even in October you lose a lot of fluid. It is about a 16km (10 mile) walk to the summit of Ben Aden from the start. Light was fading. It is then a five kilometre climb up the ridge to the highest point, crossing the subsidiary top of Bac nam Foid (584 metres) on the way. Loch Garry was looking rather serene as we headed for Loch Quoich. At the col before the rise to Sgurr Beag a stalker’s path joins from both sides of the ridge and it continues up and over Sgurr Beag and on to Sgurr Mor. Soon after we met the main path along the east ridge. To the south was Sgurr na Ciche; to the north was the long ridge of Sgurr a’Choire-bheithe. It is a kilometre across and is rimmed by crags. She was up for such a trip and, living in Fort William, was busy bagging Munros. The guidebook route would have avoided much of this.
